Mountain Lions Roar into Postseason Play

Sportsmanship Expectations for League EventsIn postseason play, sportsmanship is always very important and sometimes very challenging. Here are expectations for fan behavior, as laid out by our Central Washington B (CWB) League. Fan Behavior Expectations

    Cross Country

Liberty Bell runners will look to claim the CWB league championship on Saturday in races taking place right here at LBHS. The varsity girls will get things started at 12:30pm, with varsity boys to follow at 1:00pm. Our runners will be headed to Districts on Thursday, October 30th to compete for a chance to run at State.

    Volleyball

Mountain Lions volleyball finished in third place in the league and will host #6 Lake Roosevelt. This game will start at noon on Saturday, with the winner moving on to play Tonasket, the #2 seed out of the CWB, at 6:00pm on October 28th in Omak. Check out the CWB website for standings and brackets. As this is a postseason event, we will be charging admission; here's the link to buy tickets.

    Soccer

Liberty Bell soccer earned a sixth place finish with a dominant win against Oroville last night and will travel to Lake Roosevelt to play the Raiders at 11:00am this Saturday. The winner of that match will move on to play #2 seeded Okanogan on October 29th. Here's the link to buy tickets.

    Football

With a win, Liberty Bell will secure the #2 seed in the CWB and earn the right to host the #6 seed out of the EWAC in a district crossover playoff game (playoff brackets and standings available here). We'll host this game on November 6th, 7th or 8th at LBHS.

Liberty Bell Selects New Head Boys Basketball Coach

Congratulations to Kyle Northcott, Liberty Bell's new Head Boys Basketball Coach!

Kyle has deep roots in the Methow Valley. You can find his ancestors among the 12 original pioneering families listed at the Schaeffer Museum. Kyle graduated from Liberty Bell in 1998 and in his senior year helped to advance the Liberty Bell basketball team to the A league State Tournament. Currently, he runs a landscaping business and a voice over production company.

Kyle has continued to contribute to the success of LBHS basketball, even beyond his playing days. He has coached at Liberty Bell for four seasons, most recently serving as the assistant coach for Ryan Surface, who resigned early this fall. Last year, Coach Northcott helped guide the boys basketball team to their first State appearance since 2008.

In his time with the program, Kyle has demonstrated a keen knowledge of the game, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to effectively studying film and teaching his players to do the same. Coach Northcott's goals for the LBHS boys basketball include building a strong team culture rooted in accountability and hard work.

Paying for Post-High School Education Night

Paying for Post-High School Education Night will be happening TODAY, Monday, October 6, from 6:30-7:30pm in the LBHS Library.

You can also join us on Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89078781385

We will have the opportunity to learn from David Aramaki, a financial advisor and paying-for-college expert, about the financial aid system and other aspects of paying for post-secondary educational expenses. David has joined us on a number of occasions to share his knowledge, and he’ll be with us virtually via Zoom.

All families and students in grades 7-12 are welcome – there will be a lot of helpful information for parents of younger students who are planning for the future. Bring all your burning questions about financial aid and saving for college! Let me know if you have any questions before the event. I've also included links below to the FAFSA application and other relevant resources.

    All the best,Beth

Andy Garcia Lopez Class of 2025

Andy writes, “if I had a superpower, I'd pick time traveling, because then I could be a gnarly historian.”

After graduating, Andy will be attending Western Washington University. And in 7 years? “I picture myself being fat and happy, while hopefully making big dollars.”

Andy’s advice to younger students: “The biggest mistake one can do is to give up; results are important, but the way they are achieved, the process, is equally important... so stay disciplined.”

Congratulations, Andy! We wish you all the best!

Clyde McCarthy Class of 2025

Clyde writes, “If I could choose a superpower I would choose teleportation because I could have unlimited backcountry access anywhere in the world.”

About his future plans: “I’ll be heading to Montana State next year! While I’m still exploring my options, I’m looking forward to studying snow science next year. In 7 years, I hope to be in a place I love, doing the things I enjoy, and preferably have a good job.”

Advice for younger students? “A good GPA will help more than you think.”

Congratulations, Clyde! We’re so proud of you!

Finn Simmons Class of 2025

Asked about superpowers, Finn wrote, “I would love to have Pro Golfer abilities so I don’t hate golf as much, or super strength so I can finally beat Baker in arm wrestling.”

Finn plans on attending Southern Virginia University for a year to play for their D3 soccer team. Then after a year of college he is going to serve a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In 7 years? “Absolutely no idea.”

Finn’s advice for younger students: “Make the most of the time you have, work hard and have fun. You won’t get these times back so enjoy them.”

Congratulations, Finn! We wish you all the best!

Cade Hink Class of 2025

Cade plans to attend Washington State University in pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Economics or Pre-Law before attending Law School. Cade says, “I might try and run track but I don’t know yet; that door hasn’t closed.”

In 7 years Cade imagines himself garnering experiences from around the world and starting a lucrative business or wearing suits in a courtroom.

Cade’s advice to younger students: “Learn to be comfortable being uncomfortable. Learn to be confident and strive to become a better person everyday. Be passionate about everything you do with a smile on your face. Seek creative outlets and participate in athletics to live a balanced lifestyle. Sometimes you have to separate yourself from your friends, look in the mirror, and through introspection figure out a way to carve your own path.”

Sage Schrager Class of 2025

Sage’s plans for after high school: “I will be attending the University of Washington!”

In 7 years Sage hopes to be frolicking through fields in foreign countries with a couple cats waiting for her in yet another small mountain town when she gets back.

Sage has this advice for younger students: “There are gonna be good days and bad ones. Feel all of it. The highs, the lows, everything in between. Remember high school matters, but it’s not everything. Have fun, make memories, but don’t let this be the best time of your life. There’s so much more waiting for you.”

Congratulations, Sage! We’re so proud of you!
